Outfitter offers three sizes of portable rugged solar panels. The smallest is a Solar Port panel built into a belly pack with a built-in rechargable battery. Charge the internal battery by day and you can recharge most small electronics with DC charger accessories anytime day or night! The belly pack is large enough to carry any of our handheld sat-phones, too. If you need more power, our 25-Watt Tri-Fold is a great choice. The largest panel is a 48-Watt 12-fold panel that is extremely compact but a bit expensive.
This new product from Pelican includes a sealed lead acid battery and a powerful 1280 Lumen LED lighting source. The battery pack can be charged in 6 hours and will run the LED for up to 17 hours. The system weighs 54 lbs, and is IATA approved so it is safe to fly. You can also use it as a 12 VDC power supply. Call for more information.
If you need a reliable source of 12 VDC or 115 VAC 60 Hz power capable of going into a rugged environment, you need an Ultimate Power Kit.
Powering 12 VDC Equipment using your UPK: Each of the four Li-Ion batteries has 150 Watt-Hours, making the UPK highly redundant. All together, this is an incredible 600 Watt-Hours of total energy storage. The UPK can sustain up to 14 Amps of output current through a 12 VDC cigarette lighter output. Each of the four batteries would run a typical 20 Watt notebook computer for about 5 hours (20 hours total). The realtime fuel-gauge system on each battery lets you know how much energy remains. Powering 115 VAC Equipment using your UPK: In addition to 12 VDC power, you can also use the AC inverter (included) to convert the battery pack’s DC output to 115 VAC 60 Hz “wall power”. Any AC powered equipment that uses less than 150 Watts can be operated in this manner. Re-Charging your UPK: Recharging your batteries is easy whether you are in the field, in your vehicle, or at home. You can recharge each of the Li-Ion batteries using our optional 26-Watt multi-fold solar panel in 7-8 hours of strong sunlight (that is, 4 days of sunlight to recharge all four batteries). You can also recharge using 115-240 VAC 50/60 Hz wall power. Your vehicle’s 12 VDC power.can be converted to AC with the AC inverter, if you wish to recharge from your vehicle.
"We were very satisfied with the performance of the Sport
Solar Panel on our recent expedition to the Sabalana Islands in Indonesia.
On a traditional fishing boat, without electricity of any kind, we were able to have
daily email contact, thanks to the
Sport Panel and an
Iridium phone. For its size it's a great performance. Thank you also
for the very rapid and friendly service we received when ordering the panel."
