The HNS-9201 (see specifications) is the most compact (5.5 lbs) Class I BGAN available. It can access the full performance of BGAN and reaches internet access speeds up to 492 kbps and streaming data up to 256 kbps. The HNS-9201 is easy to use with virtually any computer because it offers wireless 802.11b WiFi, Ethernet RJ-45, and USB. An optional terminal adapter (shown above) has an RJ-11 port for use with conventional phones and a second RJ-11 port for 3.1 Khz ISDN audio suitable for G3 fax, STU-III and modem applications. The HNS-9201 also supports circuit-switched 64 kbps ISDN data which makes it backwards compatibile with most GAN applications such as STE secure communications.

Video & VPN Applications: During the 2006 war in Lebanon, many media organizations used the HNS-9201 to broadcast live reports from the field. Streaming IP data can be routed through dedicated lines or ISDN to provide steady data rates with quality of service (QoS) suitable for voice-over-IP and broadcast quality video-over-IP. Numerous VPNs have been tested for compatibility including: Cisco–VPN Client V1 or V2.6.3, Nortel–Contivity VPN Client V04_15.06, Netscreen–Remote Client 8.1, Checkpoint–V4.1, and SonicWall. Both ISDN 3.1 KHz audio and Voice-over-IP (VoIP) encrypted 32 kbps streaming IP modes can be used to achieve STU-III secure communications.

External Antenna Fixed-Site Applications: The HNS-9201 is suitable for permanent outside mounting. It has an IP55 water and dust ingress protection rating and can survive in up to 100 mph winds using the HNS external mounting kit. Rubberized caps on the external ports assure extreme resistance to water and dust.

Options include: HNS terminal adapter (with two RJ-11 ports for analog phones and 3.1 KHz ISDN/audio), 10-32 VDC power adapter, padded softcase, watertight impact case, external battery pack with solar charger, videoconferencing equipment, Vocality VoIP, and SkyFile email/fax software.

The Nera WorldPro (see specifications) is the smallest and lightest (2.2 pounds) BGAN terminal available. Outfitter Satellite recommends the WorldPro for users that simply want email and web access, but do not need realtime video. Rubberized caps on the external ports and other weatherproofing technology assure that WorldPro is highly resistant to water and dust, making it equally at home in the desert and the rainforest.

Self-explanatory indicators make the WorldPro easy to operate. The antenna unit (shown above) is intended for external use, and the interface unit can be relocated up to 20 meters away using an optional cable. Your computer can be connected easily using either USB or wirelessly via Bluetooth (up to 65 feet from interface unit). If your computer does not have Bluetooth support, Outfitter Satellite offers a USB-to-Bluetooth adapter for Windows machines.
