Tandberg Tactical II VideoConferencing System
Portable Video Conferencing Solutions       Tandberg Tactical MXP

If you need media-grade video conferencing from rugged field locations, we recommend the Tandberg Tactical MXP. It has a built-in video screen and camera so you are ready to conference as soon as you open the case. The Tactical MXP is capable of 1.5 Mbps IP-based H.323 (BGAN) and 384 kbps ISDN-based H.320 (Inmarsat M4) video communication. Other important features are a PC card slot for a wireless LAN connections and support for IP Quality of Service (QoS).

The basic system supports conferencing with one other site. An optional upgrade allows the Tactical MXP to support multi-site conferences in which up to 4 video and 3 audio sites are connected. A bandwidth upgrade option allows these sites to operate at up to 2 Mbps H.323 and 512 kbps H.320 (total bandwidth through the hub is 2.3 Mbps). The best possible quality is assured for each Multi Site participant using rate matching and transcoding. Protection against network interruptions inherent in space and internet communications is provided through automatic downspeeding and IPLR.

The Tactical MXP supports secure video communication with the highest level of standards-based embedded encryption (AES). It is also possible to use in-line Type I encryption equipment for further security. A special version of the MXP can support up to 384 kbps V.35 communication (this version varies from some of the specifications above for the Tactical MXP ISDN/IP version).

What is the best satellite phone for video? Outfitter Satellite recommends the HNS-9201 Class I BGAN terminal for use with the 7E or Tandberg equipment. This terminal offers 128 kbps and 256 kbps streaming IP modes allowing the Tandberg Tactical II to provide media-grade video via satellite. The HNS-9201 also can provide a 64 kbps ISDN mode for use with the 7E TH-1 Talking Head. If BGAN service is not available in the area from which you are intending to broadcast, we recommend a GAN terminal such as the Thrane & Thrane Capsat Messenger. GAN covers most of the earth's land masses (see GAN coverage map), but the customer needs to understand that GAN only provides 64 kbps ISDN which will reduce video quality from that offered by BGAN 256 kbps streaming IP. It is possible to use two GAN terminals at one site to operate a TH-2 Talking Head at 128 kbps. BGAN and GAN satellite terminals are available for rental by Outfitter Satellite. Please call Outfitter Satellite for additional information and technical support.
