Explorer 100 incompatible with new OSs

Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and Windows 7 are becoming more prevalent among BGAN users. This has exposed a problem with the Thrane & Thrane Explorer 100 BGAN. The Explorer 100 USB drivers are not compatible with either Snow Leopard or Win 7. The user will get an error that says, "a suitable modem could not be found...". Thrane & Thrane has indicated that they have no software releases planned to resolve this issue. In light of this, Outfitter Satellite has implemented a policy to provide a discount off our already low prices on a Wideye Sabre to replace an existing Explorer 100. You do not have to be a current customer to take advantage of this discount. Please call us at 1-833-403-0581 for more details.

Hi , I am using the BGAN terminal Explorer 100. It works with Win XP, but not with Win7. Do you have a solution? New driver software?

Hi Peter, For a period of time, Windows 7 and 8 were not supported but happily the EXPLORER 100 now works with Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 7 (32-bit) and Windows 8 (32-bit) using LaunchPad 5.0.5 and the USB 1.05 Rev B drivers — as stated on the Inmarsat.com web site. Outfitter Satellite has tested all of the above except the Windows 8 (32-bit) because we do not have such a machine. We also tested the Rev C drivers that are available on the Cobham extranet and determined that the EXPLORER 100 is fully functional for all the above operating systems. The main omission is that there are no 64-bit USB drivers available from Cobham (formerly Thrane and Thrane) for the EXPLORER 100, 300 or 500. This is unfortunate since many Windows 7 and Windows 8 users have 64-bit machines. Cobham just needs to put the 64-bit drivers higher on their priority list. If you are a 64-bit user, let me know. There is still a work around. Regards, Jim McKinley Outfitter Satellite

I do not believe they have built 64-bit USB drivers for the EXPLORER 100/300/500. You can run Windows 7 with the 32-bit drivers but you have to revert your Windows operating system to the 32-bit version.
