The ICOM IC-SAT100M is a fixed-mount Iridium® Push-to-Talk satellite phone solution designed for both in-building and in-vehicle applications. It comes ready with everything needed for in-building applications with a pole-mountable antenna but an optional AH-40 magnetic-mount vehicle antenna is also available. Standard on the IC-SAT100M is a large multi-function 1500mW speaker/microphone that is purpose built for noisy environments. A left-side PTT button and knobs on top of the handset for controlling volume and Talk Group selection make the user experience similar to operating Land Mobile Radios. The IC-SAT100M is designed specifically for in-vehicle and in-building applications. Unlike other fixed mount satellite solutions, the IC-SAT100M does not require expensive coaxial cable runs to the external antenna unit; the IC-SAT100M connects to the antenna unit via standard ethernet cable. Here are some of the other key features of the ICOM IC-SAT100M:

That said, the IC-SAT100M was purpose built for PTT and has many clear advantages:

Unlimited push-to-talk communications are included for a low monthly fee. Each subscriber organization has its own administrative web portal which allows an administrator to quickly and easily adjust the boundaries of talk groups by simply placing circles, rectangles, and other controls on a map. Different subscriber organizations can also temporarily share a talk group when collaboration is needed. All of this can be done on the fly using the web portal.
*The IC-SAT100M does not support telephony functions so these features of the service plan do not apply to this particular model.
