Email-to-text conversion lets you send an email up to 160 characters in length to your Iridium phone that will be received as an SMS message. Receiving SMS messages on your satellite phone is free of charge. You can also send 160-character SMS messages to cell phones as a text or send them to email addresses, right from your Iridium 9555 handheld satellite phone.

Need internet access? Iridium provides a slow 2.4 kbps internet access data speed which is suitable for light email communications with attachments under 100 KB is size. It is not suitable for web browsing or broadband applications like Skype or video. If you expect to need a lot of email, you should choose the Iridium GO! hotspot which includes unlimited data use.
