The Iridium 9575 Extreme satellite phone has enhanced features including improved weather resistance, easy-to-grip diamond tread rubber armor, and a GPS tracking feature. Its IP 65 rating against dust and rain water intrusion helps assure reliable operation even in extreme environments. For added safety, you can configure the Iridium 9575 Extreme to automatically transmit your position via SMS to a text or email address of your choice. Like all Iridium phones, the Iridium 9575 Extreme provides global coverage for voice and SMS messaging--even in heavily mountainous terrain.

You can send 160-character SMS messages from your Iridium to text or email addresses worldwide. Receiving SMS messages up to 160 characters in length on your Iridium is free of charge. Email-to-text conversion lets email messages be received on your Iridium phone as SMS messages, again free of charge.

The Iridium 9575 Extreme has an SOS button on the top of the phone under a weather flap that can be configured to call the phone number of your choice during an emergency. This is a valuable safety feature (once configured) during an emergency when time is of the essence. For example, you can configure it to call the local police in the area you will be traveling.

Need internet access? Iridium provides a slow 2.4 kbps internet access data speed which is suitable for light email communications with attachments under 100 KB is size. It is not suitable for web browsing or broadband applications like Skype or video. If you expect to need a lot of email, you should choose the Iridium GO! hotspot which includes unlimited data use.
