Overview:

Important: This is a used system with a 6-month warranty. The pricing on this page is only available until our inventory of used terminals is exhausted.  Service is sold separately.  Demonstration at our Nashville TN office is available upon request. 


The Cobham Explorer 8100 VSAT system is provides an On-the-Pause Internet connection for emergency responders and other organizations needing a remote mobile office in a land vehicle with data speeds up to 4 Mbps. The Explorer 8100 has auto-acquire technology to make it fast, easy to use, and reliable. The antenna is extremely sturdy and continuously adjusts using an advanced "Dynamic Pointing Correction" system to keep the signal locked in even in wind speeds up to 69 mph. The antenna can remain deployed in winds up to 73 mph and will survive stowed in winds up to 100 mph.

Service Plans:

The plans described below are designed with North American Emergency Response organizations in mind. The plans shown are suitable for an Explorer 8100 Ku-band system configured with a 8W BUC and a PLL LNB with +/- 25Hz LO stability using an approved Maverick Modem such as the Newtec MDM3100 or MDM2510. Pricing and bandwidth capabilities will vary for other types of VSAT equipment. Other plans with different MIR and CIR specifications are available for the Explorer 8100 by quote.


Coverage Area for Maverick North America Disaster Recovery Plan:

Service is provided through the Maverick network by the G28 and E117WA satellites. G28 or Galaxy 28 is owned by Intelsat and located at 89.0° West. E117WA is owned by Eutelsat and located at at 116.8° West. The coverage area for a 1.2 M antenna with a minimum Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power (EIRP) of 46 Watts is indicated by the orange colored region. The coverage area for a 1.8 M antenna with a minimum Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power (EIRP) of 42 Watts is indicated by the gold colored region.




Demonstration of Cobham Explorer 8100:

A Cobham Explorer 8100 can be configured for Ka-band or Ku-band. The equipment described on this page is Ku-band but the demonstration video is for a Ka-band system. Some of the components shown in the video are not the same as the equipment being sold on this page.
