The Ocean Signal rescueME PLB1 offers peace of mind both on land and at sea, allowing you to notify global emergency services of your location with the press of a button.
Unlike many satellite-based notification devices, the rescueME PLB1 has no monthly or annual fees, making it one of the most affordable GPS-enabled emergency beacons for long-term use.
Features
Compact Size
The Ocean Signal PLB1 is 30% smaller by volume, making it easy to attach to a lifejacket or rucksack strap. The retractable antenna, which assists in transmitting your GPS location, can be stowed away by simply turning the dial at the top of the device.
Warranty
The rescueME PLB1 comes with a 7-year warranty and up to a 7-year standby battery life. However, the battery must be replaced after activation in an emergency or when it reaches the expiration date. The battery is not user-replaceable and must be serviced by an authorized dealer.
Activation
The PLB1 provides reassurance that global emergency services can be reached at the push of a button, whether you're on land or at sea. It can be activated single-handedly, even in difficult conditions, thanks to the spring-loaded flap that covers the activation button, preventing accidental use. Once the button is pressed, your location is sent to a rescue coordination center via satellite, where it is relayed to nearby emergency services. The signal will be transmitted continuously for at least 24 hours. A high-brightness strobe light further aids search and rescue teams in locating you, whether you're on the ocean or in a remote land area at night.
Programming
All rescueME PLB1s sold by OSAT are pre-programmed with the US (366) country code. While the device will work globally, the US Coast Guard would be the first to be alerted in an emergency. For other country configurations or specific MMSI programming, contact us before shipment.
Register Your rescueME PLB1
In most countries, it is a legal requirement to register your Personal Locator Beacon (PLB). Registration ensures that if your beacon is activated, search and rescue teams will know who you are and can access critical information, such as your travel plans. Without registration, rescue efforts may be delayed. After receiving your PLB, you must register it with the Cospas-Sarsat system by providing your unique Beacon HEX ID number, found on both the device and its packaging.
