Inmarsat BGAN Land Portable Terminals
These lightweight land-portable terminals are comparable in size to a laptop computer. Class 1 terminals like the Cobham EXPLORER 710 or HNS-9211 offer Standard IP data speeds up to 492 kbps and various streaming IP data speeds up to HDR suitable for broadcast video. Class 2 terminals like the Cobham EXPORER 510 offer standard IP data up to 464 kbps with streaming IP data up to 128 kbps. Standard IP data is offered on a best effort shared bandwidth basis; this means that the maximum standard IP data speed is not what one should expect typically. When we have measured standard IP data speeds recently, standard IP data speeds around 150-250 kbps are typical for both Class 1 and Class 2 terminals. Coverage is nearly global but excludes the polar regions. It is also important to understand that coverage in mountainous areas can be impacted by terrain masking. If the elevation angle is relatively low on the horizon, mountains and other vertical obstructions may block the satellite signal. If you know the location that you expect to use the Inmarsat BGAN terminal, Outfitter Satellite can provide you the compass angle and elevation angle of the Inmarsat satellite. Outfitter Satellite offers a variety of Inmarsat BGAN service options. Our most popular plan is the Inmarsat BGAN Standard Plus Plan which has tiered monthly usage costs, with a maximum tier that includes unlimited usage. Prepaid plans are also available.
