The SHOUT Nano is a compact, handheld satellite device that combines two-way messaging with global personal tracking. Operating on Iridium’s Short Burst Data (SBD) service, it provides GPS-based location reporting, two-way status updates, text messaging, and emergency alert notifications.
Designed for efficiency, the Nano draws less than 35µA in sleep mode. Its 1.95 A-Hr rechargeable Li-Ion battery supports hourly position reporting for up to two months (around 1,200 transmissions). A high-resolution color LCD with on-screen keyboards enables free-text, canned, or mixed messaging, with intuitive icon-based menus for quick navigation. The device can also be configured to wake automatically and transmit reports to a monitoring center. For emergencies, a dedicated 911 button delivers immediate alert notifications. Data transmissions can be sent in standard format, secured with 256-bit AES encryption, or encrypted using PECOS formats with Brevity codes.
